CRAFT POSTERS: A GOLD JOSS PAPER FOLDED A TOKEN OF FILIAL PIETY
Often represented as an essential component in veneration customs, the act of folding joss paper is considered as preparing money for the dead as well as a show of filial piety. The deed of spending time and effort to fold stacks of these papers by both the young and old is a crucial component and has great meaning in ancestral veneration.
The first layer was created using a styrofoam base and heavy pigment red ink acting as a handmade stamp. The gold foil was applied in several sheets on top to feature the patterns as created from the dried ink.
